The Background

North Forge Technology Exchange (NFTE) is a start-up incubator accelerator for Manitoba’s science-based, technology-enabled, and advanced manufacturing start-ups.

NFTE provides its entrepreneur members with mentors, subject matter experts, and a four-stage start-up program. Its members also have access to North America’s largest non-profit fabrication lab, which allows them to perform R & D and develop product prototypes, which would usually have been too cost-prohibitive for most entrepreneurs.

The Opportunity

To promote safe and proper equipment operation within its fabrication lab, NFTE approached Relish to develop a self-directed training and resource platform for its members. The platform required a reporting and tracking functionality for NFTE staff to ensure that all members who wanted to use the fabrication lab had completed the necessary training and proven their competency before using the equipment.

The Solution

Relish’s Development Team created a self-contained resource website that presented video training to members in modules that tracked their views down to tiny increments.

With this new platform, NFTE could correctly identify members who required training and then deliver that training efficiently, consistently and in a highly quantifiable way that confirmed they achieved competency before using the equipment within its fabrication lab.

NFTE’s new online training portal ensured the safety of its members by preventing injuries. Also, the platform protected the organization’s bottom line by providing the necessary instruction on the proper operation of its equipment, which reduced the risk of damaging these valuable resources.
