Established in 1989, the Downtown Winnipeg Business Improvement Zone (Downtown Winnipeg BIZ) is the voice of the downtown business community. It promotes 

Downtown Winnipeg as a great place to shop, play, work and live, and it advocates for continued Downtown revitalization and services for its members. 

The Opportunity

Downtown Winnipeg BIZ hosts events throughout the year and offers numerous programs and services to improve Downtown’s cleanliness, safety, transportation, and parking. 

The organization needed a robust, updated website to support its business objectives, so it turned to Relish’s Development Team to deliver an online platform with new functionality and features for driving traffic and prosperity to Downtown Winnipeg. The new platform would also need to reduce Downtown Winnipeg BIZ’s own staff’s administrative and maintenance burden related to the website. 

The Solution

With a significant number of stakeholders and the general public heavily invested in downtown Winnipeg’s prosperity, Relish’s Development Team designed an exceptionally aesthetically pleasing, mobile responsive contemporary e-commerce website with user-friendly functions. 

Programming the eCommerce store was incredibly satisfying for the Development Team. They successfully integrated multiple product types (physical and virtual) for a significant number of vendors while assimilating the eCommerce Store’s purchases with unique business profiles. The new store also interfaced with an interactive map 

The revamped website allowed its members to conduct updates to their unique profiles via a “self-serve” Member Portal, which reduced the administrative burden for Downtown Winnipeg BIZ staff. New event management functionality empowered administrators to easily and quickly plan and ticket events, which would be automatically displayed on an event calendar and seamlessly integrated with a user-friendly eCommerce platform. This feature was a significant time-saver and revenue generator of Downtown Winnipeg Biz.
